Leading Systems Change

If you were unable to attend the Fourth International Integrative Nursing Symposium, you still have the opportunity to engage. Until May 30 at 11:59 pm Central, all keynote and plenary speeches, and all poster and oral abstracts are available to watch online, and you may still earn continuing education contact hours.

The theme for our gathering was “Leading System Change." The Covid-19 pandemic, the fragility of health care institutions, the growing awareness of systemic racism and the planetary crisis have accelerated the need for whole person, whole system and whole planet care and healing.

Our speakers and topics included:

  • Rumay Alexander, EdD, RN, FAAN:  "Whole Person Leadership: Dismantling Racism Begins with Me"

  • Billy Rosa, PhD, MBE, ACHPN, FAANP, FAAN: "Nurses and Health Equity"

  • Stephen Trzeciak, MD, MPH: "Science Underlying Compassion and System Change"

  • Dorrie Fontaine, PhD, RN, FAAN: "Self-Care Superpowers Nurses Need to Lead Systems Change"

  • Teddie Potter, PhD, RN, FAAN, FNAP: "Planetary Health: An Integrative Approach to the Great Transition"

  • Lori Knutson, MHA, BSN, RN, HNB-BC:  "Advancing Integrative Nursing: The Role of a Change Agent"

If you were unable to attend the Symposium, you can still earn continuing nursing education contact hours for participating. Washington State University College of Nursing is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by Oregon Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
